MEDICAL EDUCATION AT HOME – PROLOTHERAPY

Physicians can increase their skills and add services to their office practice by studying the medical training materials produced by the American Institute of Prolotherapy.  Training is available to medical doctors, osteopathic physicians, naturopaths and veterinarians.  Double blind studies and patient outcome studies have documented the value of prolotherapy injection treatments for neck pain, headaches, upper back and rib cage pains, low back pain, as well as for shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand pains.  Hip, knee, ankle and foot pains can be helped by prolotherapy treatments, as well.  Arthritis, trauma, overuse conditions, joint instability problems of the spine and sacroiliac joints can be successfully treated with prolotherapy.  Patients who have need for joint or spine surgery, but have heart conditions that prevent the surgery may receive pain relief with prolotherapy treatments.

  • Chronic pain and acute pain are both benefitted by this treatment.
  • Herniated discs may be helped by strengthening the ligaments around the segments involved.
  • Drugs and surgery are often eliminated by appropriate prolotherapy injections.
  • A new rib fracture may be treated with prolotherapy to stop the pain quickly.

Prolotherapy training materials have been produced by the founder Kent L. Pomeroy, M.D.  Dr. Pomeroy learned about prolotherapy in 1977.  He started teaching other physicians the art and science of prolotherapy in 1982, when he developed the first set of 35mm slides.  VHS videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs and a two volume compendium of prolotherapy have been produced by him. Medical training materials and table-side training are available and explained in the following sections.  Dr. Pomeroy completed an eight year outcome study on all of his prolotherapy patients, which is available on request, is reproduced in the Prolotherapy Compendium. Dr. Pomeroy’s background includes an M.D. degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine and medical specialty board certifications in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and in Pain Medicine.  He is licensed in Arizona by the Medical Board and by the Homeopathic and Integrative Medical Board.  He is a former President of the Prolotherapy Association, a co-founder of the American Association of Orthopaedic Medicine and a Fellow and Honorary Board Member of the American Osteopathic Association of Prolotherapy Integrative Pain Management.

Dr. Pomeroy would be pleased to become your personal mentor by telephone or e-mail after you have studied prolotherapy with him.
